Mini-Splits

Mini-Splits are great options for Wisconsin Cabins, Homes, and Remodeling

Mini-splits emerge as an excellent choice for both primary and secondary heating sources, finding optimal use in home expansions or residences where forced air systems pose impracticalities. Air-to-air heat pumps, facilitating both heating and cooling, qualify for tax incentives and rebates. The Durastar standard models, operational down to -13 degrees, include a remote for each head, with options for both single and multihead configurations.

For those seeking WiFi connectivity and heating capabilities in lower temperatures, our preferred product is Gree, and we proudly hold the title of a Gree Select Dealer. Offering heating proficiency down to -31 degrees, Gree models boast a user-friendly design with built-in WiFi and a mobile app, granting customers complete control over their home's comfort remotely.

What is a Mini-Split?

A mini-split, also known as a ductless mini-split or ductless heat pump, is a type of heating and cooling system used in homes and buildings. It consists of two main components: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The indoor unit is mounted on a wall or ceiling inside the room, and it is connected to the outdoor unit by refrigerant lines and electrical wiring.

Unlike traditional HVAC systems that use ductwork to distribute air, mini-splits operate without ducts. This makes them a flexible and efficient option for heating or cooling individual rooms or zones within a building. Mini-splits are commonly used in situations where installing ductwork is impractical or too costly.

The system works by transferring heat between the indoor and outdoor units. In the cooling mode, the indoor unit absorbs heat from the room and releases it outside. In the heating mode, the process is reversed, with the outdoor unit extracting heat from the outside air and transferring it indoors.

Mini-splits offer several advantages, including energy efficiency, ease of installation, and the ability to customize the climate in different areas of a building independently. They are often used in homes, additions, or rooms where a central forced-air system is not a feasible option.
